Tour of historic Fort Fremont set Saturday

The St. Helena Branch Beaufort County Public Library will offer a tour of Fort Fremont April 23.

Tours of the fort, which dates to the Spanish American War, are at 10:30 a.m. every fourth Saturday of the month.

Participants will begin at the library located at 6355 Jonathan Francis Senior Road to learn the history, see a scale model of the fort as it stood in 1898 and take a guided tour of the remains.

The tour lasts approximately two hours, and no reservations are necessary. The event is free to the public.
