Victim of deadly St. Helena shed fire identified
The victim of an April 8 shed fire at a St. Helena Island residence has been identified.
Arthur Simmons, 71, of 22 B. Wilson Lane was identified as the victim of the blaze through DNA analysis, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office news release.
Although Simmons was identified, the cause and manner for his death have not been determined.
However, the release said that up to this point, the investigation has found no evidence of foul play.
Firefighters extinguished the flames after the fire was reported by an area resident around 8 a.m. that day and found Simmons’ body inside.
