An Okatie man accused of burglary is behind bars after a tip to Crime Stoppers led law enforcement to the Hardeeville hotel where he was staying on Tuesday.

Joshua Schatz, 20, was charged with second-degree burglary, probation violation, petit larceny and financial transaction card theft after Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office officials alerted Hardeeville Police that an anonymous tip made to Crime Stoppers indicated Schatz was at the Economy Inn, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release.

A short time later, Schatz was arrested in connection with a burglary at Subway restaurant in Coligny Plaza that happened last weekend, the release said.

He was taken to the Beaufort County Detention Center and is being held on a bond of over $30,000.
