Woman killed in wreck on SC 170 at Callawassie
A woman died and another was injured following a two-car accident on S.C. 170 in Okatie on Saturday afternoon.
A female passenger in a 2008 Mercedes Benz was killed in the wreck, which occurred at about 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of S.C. 170 and Callawassie Drive, according to Sgt. Bob Beres of the S.C. Highway Patrol. She was identified by the Beaufort County Coroner as Loretta Tabor, 69.
The Mercedes was traveling west on S.C. 170 and was attempting to turn onto Callawassie Drive when it was struck in the side by an eastbound 2015 Nissan Altima. The driver of the Nissan, a 58-year-old woman, was transported to Beaufort Memorial Hospital.
Beres did not provide information on the injuries of the driver of the Mercedes, 71-year-old Stephen Tabor.
All occupants were wearing seat belts.
The cause of the wreck is under investigation.
