Community group VAST opposes Beaufort Co. school sales tax
A community group has formed in opposition to the Beaufort County School District’s 1 percent educational sales tax.
Voters Against Sales Tax spokesperson Ann Ubelis states that the group rejects the November ballot referendum because of its potential impact on tourism and the possibility that the sales tax could increase 2 percent if voters approve both the educational referendum and a county capital improvement referendum.
VAST plans to distribute fliers next week to attendees of RBC Heritage Presented by Boeing as the start of its campaign against the potential sales tax increase.
