Battery Creek High student found with Taser at school
A 14-year-old Battery Creek High School student was charged with bringing a weapon on school property after a Taser was found in his backpack.
A Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office deputy was alerted by a school staff member that the student had the weapon in his backpack around 7:15 a.m. Friday, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office report.
The deputy found a pink stun gun inside the backpack, the report said.
The student said he got the stun gun from a friend in February and that he brings it to school all of the time.
“He said he has never used (the stun gun) or threatened anyone,” the report said.
When the deputy asked the student if he had ever been threatened by anyone at school he said “no” and that he brought it for “protection” because of “all the fights at school.”
The student was issued a Family Court date for April 19, the report said.
