United Way of the Lowcountry reaches $2.5 million fundraising goal

The United Way of the Lowcountry has successfully completed their $2.5 million annual fundraising campaign.

The money raised will be used to help funds 47 programs through 33 partner agencies focused on health, education, income and basic needs, according to an organization release.

The agency is also seeking 300 volunteers for to help package 75,000 meals to be distributed locally as part of United Way’s Day of Caring events.

Meal preparation will take place noon April 27 at the YMCA of Beaufort County, 1801 Richmond Ave., Port Royal.

South of the Broad River, volunteers are need to pack meals starting at noon April 28 at the Boys & Girls Club of the Lowcountry, 100 H.E. McCracken Circle, Bluffton.
