Jasper County selects firm for superintendent search

The Jasper County school board has selected a Nebraska-based superintendent search firm to lead its search for a new district head.

McPherson & Jacobsen, a 25-year-old firm, was chosen out of six applicants for its record of placing superintendents and other school administrators who stay in their jobs for five years or more, a district release said.

The firm beat out the two others that received interviews, the S.C. School Boards Associaton and Ray & Associates.

Larry Heath is serving as interim superintendent until the district finds a permanent replacement. He succeeded Vashti Washington, who resigned from the district in December.
