‘Rifle suspect’ in Beaufort traffic stop remains at large
Though the rifle has been found, the man who ran from deputies with it during a Saturday evening traffic stop remains at-large.
The suspect was a passenger in a vehicle that was pulled over for speeding. He ran from the vehicle into the woods near Joe Frazier and Burton Wells roads, where the 22-caliber rifle was eventually located, Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Capt. Bob Bromage said Monday morning.
The driver was warned for speeding and released, Bromage said Monday.
The at-large suspect was described as a black male with shoulder-length dreadlocks, and was wearing a red hat, red shirt and blue jeans.
Anyone with information about the incident can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CrimeSC.
