Burton Wells football field closed until August

The Burton Wells football field is closed until August.

Beaufort County officials are unsure exactly when in August the field will reopen, but expect it will be ready for use before the start of the football season.

The closure will allow county staff to repair the field after two incidents of vandalism last year, a county release said.

Crews are currently working to raise and crown the field for improved drainage. Fine grading and turf installation by a contractor will follow.
