Two Beaufort teen armed robbery suspects arrested
Two teenagers were charged in connection with three armed robberies that occurred over the weekend in Beaufort.
Jafari Brown, 16, is being charged as an adult with three counts of armed robbery and was taken to the Beaufort County Detention Center on a $75,000 bond, according to a Beaufort Police Department news release.
Brown’s alleged accomplice, a 15-year-old male, was charged with three counts of armed robbery and taken to the Department of Juvenile Justice in Columbia where he awaits a Family Court appearance, the release said.
Three victims reported being robbed by a pair of teenagers in the nighttime hours of March 12 and the early morning hours of March 13.
The first victim was approached on Craven Street where the suspects used a pellet gun to demand his belongings. The pair then ran toward Waterfront Park.
Two other robberies were later reported - one at the intersection of North and Harrington Streets and the other at a cottage on Scott Street.
The Scott Street victim suffered injuries to his face after he was allegedly kicked by the suspects, the release said.
Witness information and video footage led investigators to identify the suspects and they eventually confessed during interviews, the release said.
