New USC Beaufort chancellor Al Panu to be installed Friday

Al Panu, the second chancellor of USC Beaufort, will be installed during a ceremony on Friday in Bluffton.

Panu started in August 2015, replacing Jane Upshaw. He will officially take his position at 11 a.m. Friday in the Helen and Brantley Harvey Plaza of the Hilton Head Gateway Campus.

A number of events will lead up to the ceremony.

The events include a photographic display of “The Legacy of Support for Education in Beaufort County” at USCB Center for the Arts in Beaufort. University staff will play students in a soccer game on Finland Field on Wednesday. A “Bakeoff and Bagpipes” event on Thursday will feature a faculty-staff bakeoff and a bagpipe concert.
