Three victims recovering from St. Helena shooting

At least two of three people injured in Saturday’s shooting at a St. Helena Island home have been released from the hospital, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.

One woman who sustained a single gunshot wound a man who was trampled at the scene of the shooting on Roman Lane were treated for their injuries and released from Beaufort Memorial Hospital, according to Capt. Bob Bromage.

The condition of the third victim, a man who was shot multiple times, was unavailable, though Bromage said his injuries were non-fatal. The man was also taken to Beaufort Memorial.

The injuries occurred early Saturday morning at a residence that was being used as a makeshift nightclub, according to a Sheriff’s Office advisory.

Deputies discovered various illegal drugs, a handgun and multiple spent cartridge casings at the scene, but did not receive much cooperation from the victims or witnesses.

Those responsible for the shooting have not been identified.
