Elementary schoolers to face off in 2016 Future Chef competition
Fifteen elementary school student finalists will put their cooking chops to the test on Friday in the Beaufort County School Dstrict’s 2016 Future Chef competition.
The students will work on their dishes in the Advanced Technical Center at Battery Creek High School and will go before a panel of judges in the afternoon. The theme of the competition, sponored by Sodexo, is breakfast foods.
In 2015, judges awarded the top prize to Red Cedar Elementary School fourth-grader Loncelle Daley, whose Tropical Smoothie advanced to the Southeast regional competition.
The 2015 national contest, by public vote, went to a student from San Jose, Calif., for her take on an after-school snack, Super Fun Apple Nachos.
