Liz’s Notebook: Vogue highlights Beaufort as charming small town
Beaufort is en vogue and in Vogue.
The high fashion magazine posted a travel piece on its website Thursday titled “Beaufort: One of South Carolina’s Charming Small Towns,” written by Daniel Scheffler. (Right below a piece featuring supermodels Kylie Jenner and Gigi Hadid, which means ... nothing actually.)
Among well-known Beaufort spots that Scheffler has recommended to Vogue readers are Old Bull Tavern, Saltus River Grill, Scout, Achorage 1770, City Loft Hotel, Shrimp Shack, Lulu Burgess and Penn Center.
“The town, which is pronounced as if saying ‘beautiful,’ has all of the trimmings of the big city—culture, history, stellar cuisine—while remaining quaint, quiet, and ever-so charming. Trees kiss over the many bike paths, park benches overlook the water views, and Spanish moss dangles above the walking paths that crisscross throughout the town,” Scheffler writes.
One odd mention in Scheffler’s piece, though: Does anyone know anyone who sips Bittermilk mixed cocktails on Beaufort porches?
If so, do tell and invite me over.
I only just now found out what Bittermilk is thanks to Vogue’s convenient product-link.
Wait a second ...
