ACE director named as new H.E. McCracken Middle principal
The new principal of H.E. McCracken Middle School in Bluffton was named Tuesday as Jerry Henderson, the director of Beaufort-Jasper Academy for Career Excellence.
Henderson had served as the head of the technical school since the spring of 2015 and previously was assistant principal of Beaufort Middle School.
The Beaufort County school board approved Henderson’s hire to H.E. McCracken Middle at Tuesday afternoon’s regularly scheduled meeting.
Henderson will replace Todd Bornscheuer, who will serve as the first principal at the new May River High School upon its opening in Aug. 2016. He also will join the middle school as it reverts to a traditional sixth through eight-grade configuration, as opposed to the eighth through ninth-grade configuration it adopted in Aug. 2010.
“Jerry has done a terrific organizational job at ACE in a very short time,” superintendent Jeff Moss said, “and those skills will be important because in a key way, McCracken will become a ‘new school’ in August.”
