Rivers to replace Orischak on ACE school board

Michael Rivers of the Beaufort County school board will replace JoAnn Orischak on the Beaufort-Jasper Academy for Career Excellence school board.

Orischak resigned from the ACE school board Feb. 8, citing her lack of support for the technical school remaining open past the 2016-17 school year. Beaufort and Jasper counties are in the process of determining how and whether to continue running the school past that deadline.

Rivers, Beaufort County’s alternate for the ACE board, joins fellow members Geri Kinton and Mary Cordray and Jasper County school board members Deb Butler, Tedd Moyd and Randy Horton.

The board meets Thursday at the school, 80 Lowcountry Drive, Ridgeland.
