Beaufort County teachers receive STEM training

Beaufort County teachers will join those from five other districts on Tuesday taking part in a STEM training program.

Discovery Education, a division of the company that produces the Discovery Channel, Animal Planet and Science Channel, will provide teachers with classroom lessons, new digital classroom tools and best practices to get students excited about science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Participants will also examine data about future STEM opportunities in the state so they can build their own STEM strategies.

The program includes about 75 teachers from the Beaufort, Berkeley, Dorchester 2, Florence 1, Georgetown and Orangeburg 5 school districts. Training is provided at no cost to the districts.
