Autopsy complete on burned body found in Yemassee; person still not identified
The body found Friday inside a burned car in Yemassee has not yet been identified after the autopsy was completed.
The body was located on Jenks Lane in Yemassee around 9:30 a.m. after hunters on an abandoned property owned by a Yemassee councilman came across the vehicle.
Yemessee Police Chief Gregory Alexander told Savannah television station WTOC Monday that the car belongs to a Jasper County resident, who was found safe.
Alexander said that DNA was taken from the body during the autopsy for testing.
The car has not been reported stolen.
