Street closures for Beaufort's 'A Night on the Town' announced

The City of Beaufort's 30th annual "A Night on the Town" is from 6-9 p.m. Friday.

Shops and businesses will offer extended hours and previews of holiday items.

In addition, the event will feature a tree lighting ceremony, live entertainment and a visit from Santa.

The following streets will be closed beginning at 4:30 p.m. Friday, according to a notice:

- Bay Street from Charles Street to Carteret Street

- Scotts Street in front of Wells Fargo Advisors and at Port Republic Street

- West Street from Bay Street to Port Republic Street

- Port Republic Street from Scott Street to Charles Street

- Charles Street Extension's entrance into the Downtown Marina of Beaufort's parking lot beginning at 8 a.m.

The event will be followed by the city's "Light Up the Night" boat parade at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, with the best views at the Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park, and the Beaufort Christmas Parade at 3 p.m. Sunday through the streets of downtown Beaufort.
