A woman from Montana who lost her wallet in Beaufort over the weekend found it pieces at a time, thanks to a Beaufort police officer.
When Amy Neel realized her wallet was missing, she immediately drove around the area she last saw it, until she spotted her military ID.
"I assumed at that point someone took what they wanted and just ditched the rest," she wrote on Facebook.
Officer Patrick Schmucker, who had found Neel's wallet after a stranger found it had been run over, saw Neel searching.
"She looked a little stressed out," Schmucker said.
Schmucker gave Neel her wallet, which had everything inside except a debit card. He began searching the area with a flashlight until he found it.
"I was so beyond happy that I asked him if I could hug him, which I did!" Neel wrote. "If it wasn't for him, I'm not sure how I would have ever gotten my things back."
