One person was injured in a wreck involving a minivan and a semi-truck on S.C. 170 this morning, according to a Bluffton Township Fire District spokesman.
The two vehicles collided around 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of Argent Boulevard and S.C. 170, spokesman Randy Hunter said. The collision left one person entrapped in the minivan, he said.
Firefighters from the Bluffton Township Fire District, the Hardeeville Fire Department, and Jasper County Fire & Rescue all helped extricate the victim, and Jasper County EMS transported the person to a nearby landing zone for a helicopter to airlift them to a hospital, Hunter said. Beaufort County EMS also responded to the scene.
All westbound lanes of S.C. 170 and all southbound lanes of Argent Boulevard were temporarily blocked by the wreck, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office traffic management department.
The S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating the crash, Hunter said.
