Seabrook man shot during home invasion, suspects got away
A Seabrook man is being treated at Beaufort Memorial Hospital after he was shot during a home invasion early Thursday morning.
When deputies arrived to Seabrook Center Road around 4 a.m., the victim told them he was shot once by the intruders, who forced their way into his home and stole undisclosed property before running away, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office release.
As they arrived on the property, deputies saw a vehicle leaving the area that immediately stopped as at least two subjects ran into a wooded area, the release said.
They were not found or identified.
A perimeter was set up and K-9 units assisted deputies in searching the area.
Evidence investigators believe was dropped by the fleeing suspects was recovered and will be examined at the Sheriff's Office Forensic Services Laboratory along with the abandoned vehicle, the release said.
