Update: Name of Lady's Island motorcycle crash victim released

A motorcycle wreck on Lady's Island left a Beaufort man dead early Sunday morning, according to the Lady's Island-St. Helena Fire District.

Steven Ganshow, 41, was traveling on Sam's Point Road in front of Beaufort Academy about 1 a.m. when he lost control of his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and struck the median, according to the district and Beaufort County Coroner Ed Allen.

He was not wearing a helmet and sustained severe head trauma, district spokesman Scott Harris said. The victim was transported to Beaufort Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
