DNA evidence links St. Helena man to August burglary
A St. Helena Island man was charged Monday with burglary and petit larceny in connection with an Aug. 17 break-in at a Paulik Place home.
Devin Wilson, 23, was charged at the Beaufort County Detention Center where he was already incarcerated on an earlier domestic violence, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office news release.
Residents of the Paulik Place home found a smashed window that was used to gain entry inside in August, the release said. A DVD player, computer and television were stolen from the residence.
Potential DNA of a suspect was found inside the home and matched Wilson, who had been convicted on prior burglaries, the release said.
Wilson's bond was set at $20,000 after the additional charges were added and he remains at the detention center, the release said.
