Early morning motorcycle crash in Burton leaves one seriously injured

An early morning motorcycle crash near Robert Smalls Parkway in Burton has left one seriously injured, officials say.

The single-vehicle accident occurred around 2:30 a.m. Saturday on Castlerock Road after the driver lost control of the motorcycle, Burton Fire Department spokesman Dan Byrne said.

The motorcycle caught fire and the man suffered serious injuries, he said.

Firefighters arriving on the scene extinguished the fire. The man was taken by EMS to Beaufort Memorial Hospital, Byrne said.

His condition was unknown as of Saturday afternoon.
