Port Royal police are investigating a shooting at an apartment complex Monday night that left one man injured, according to a department spokesman.
A 32-year-old man was shot in the chest at Southside Apartments on Southside Boulevard around 10 p.m. after he confronted a person who knocked on their door and ran away, Deputy Chief Ron Wekenmann said.
After the victim confronted the person, a struggle ensued and the man was shot. Several people in the complex called police, reporting they'd heard gunshots, he said.
Officers found the man lying in a pool of blood when they arrived. He was taken to Beaufort Memorial Hospital for treatment. The victim was in stable condition Tuesday, Wekenmann said.
