Reward offered in 2011 homicide of Julius Chaplin on St. Helena Island

A $2,500 reward is being offered for information on a 2011 cold case in which a man was found shot multiple times in his St. Helena driveway.

Julius Chaplin, 44, was found dead in his Fripp Point Road around 10 p.m. on Oct. 5, 2011, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

The investigation revealed Chaplin had left his house to go for a walk shortly before gunshots were heard by nearby witnesses, the Sheriff's Office said.

A vehicle was also heard speeding off after the shots rang out, but no witnesses were able to provide a description.
