St. Helena shooting injures one

A non-fatal shooting on St. Helena Island is under investigation this morning.

Beaufort County Sheriff's Office deputies called to Joe Street found one person with a gunshot wound to their lower body, the agency said about 7:30 a.m. Sunday.

The victim was transported to Beaufort Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

At that time, investigators remained on the scene gathering evidence and interviewing possible witnesses.
