One dead, another wounded after Grays Hill shooting
Deputies arrived at the residence around 10 p.m. and found a woman with multiple gunshot wounds, the report said. The man, later identified as Dontavis Gibbs, 31, was dead and had a single gunshot wound, according to the Sheriff's Office news release. The two were found in the home's bedroom, the release said.
A handgun was found near Gibbs, the release said.
The woman was taken to Beaufort Memorial Hospital. No information on the woman's condition has been released, the release said.
Further investigation revealed a recent history of domestic violence, the release said.
Witness interviews indicate the two were alone in the bedroom when the shots were fired. No one else was injured, the release said.
An autopsy for Gibbs has been scheduled for Saturday morning at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
No charges have been filed, Capt. Bob Bromage said Friday.
