Cancellations reported Sunday:

The Blessing of the Animals in honor of St. Francis of Assisi Day at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Port Royal has been postponed until 4 p.m. Oct. 11. For more information, call 843 379-1020.



The S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control has closed most of the state's shellfish beds due to excessive rainfall, the agency said in a weekend press release. The closure affects all shellfish harvesting for the area extending from St. Helena Sound, including the Coosaw River, to the mouth of and including the Bull River, then north to the North Carolina state line. The closure will remain in effect until sampling results indicate that bacteria levels are suitable for harvesting to resume. Republican presidential hopeful and U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham canceled three Beaufort County campaign events Monday in the wake of devastating storms and flooding across South Carolina this weekend.Graham had been scheduled to speak at Blackstone's Cafe in Beaufort, Aunt Chiladas on Hilton Head Island and Magnolia Hall in Sun City Hilton Head on Monday.The campaign plans to reschedule the events, according to the Beaufort County Republican Party. New dates have not yet been announced.

Cancellations reported Friday and Saturday

The "Burgers & Brew" event, originally scheduled for Saturday at the Shelter Cove Community Park on Hilton Head Island, has been postponed due to inclement weather, organizers say. The event will now take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 24 at the park, according to a news release. More information.

The Beaufort Shrimp Festival has been cancelled after event organizers determined crowd safety was at risk. More information.

Nine high school football games featuring area teams — Battery Creek at Garrett, Beaufort Academy at Charleston Collegiate, Beaufort at Berkeley, Hanahan at Hilton Head Island, Palmetto Christian at Hilton Head Christian, Ridge Christian at John Paul II, Silver Bluff at Ridgeland-Hardeeville, Wando at Bluffton and Whale Branch at Bishop England — have been postponed until Monday. The Lowcountry’s Rockin’ the Pink scheduled for this Saturday has been postponed until next Saturday October 10. More information will be posted on their Facebook page.

Hampton Lake’s Lakeside Village Market and Open House is cancelled. The next Lakeside Village Market and Open House is November 14th.

St. Peter's Catholic Church Bazaar has been cancelled tomorrow and is rescheduled for Oct 10.

The Lowcountry Buddy Walk planned Sunday by the Down Syndrome Association of the Lowcountry has been canceled.

The Zonta Club of Hilton Head Island has cancelled its Take a Stand in the Sand event scheduled for Saturday at Coligny Beach Park. The event will be rescheduled for later in October.  Please check the club's Facebook page or website for the announcement of the new date.

The Alzheimer's Association's Memory Walk in Bluffton might or might not take place, but here are the contingencies, as relayed by Amanda Newberry: Best case: The event is on if conditions are "merely wet." If there is significant storm activity, the Express Drop-Off location will move to The Corner Perk at 1297 May River Road. If there is significant flooding, the event will be cancelled.

The Lowcountry District of Boy Scouts of America's Cub Scouts Adventure Field Day at Ulmer's Woods in Bluffton has been postponed to Oct. 10. Email lowcountryscouting@gmail.com for more information.

Hounds on the Harbour, a Hilton Head Humane Association event scheduled for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Harbour Town, has been rescheduled for Oct. 17.
