Man accused of firing gun near woman and their child
A man accused of pointing two guns at a woman and their child and firing at least one of them once remained at large Thursday, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office report.
A deputy responded to the Lady's Island and St. Helena Fire District on Wednesday after a woman reported the incident from there, the report said.
The woman told the deputy she had gone to Honeysuckle Lane on Lady's Island around 8:30 p.m. to drop off her 11-month-old with the child's father, according to the report.
The woman said the man became angry that she was dropping the child off, grabbed a shotgun from inside the house, pulled a handgun from his pocket and pointed both at her before telling her to get back in the car, the report said.
The woman drove away with the child and said she heard at least one shot, the report said.
A witness confirmed the incident and said that at least one shot had been fired, the report said.
When deputies returned to the scene, the man was gone. A single bullet casing was recovered, the report said.
