National Coffee Day: Where to get a free cup of java Tuesday in the Lowcountry

Americans are a well-caffeinated bunch.

Not only is the United States the nation that consumes the most coffee, according to Henson Consulting, the industry brews a lot of profit nationally. In fact, a June Reuters report says U.S. coffee drinkers are expected to spend $12.8 billion on coffee this year. That's up from a record $11.9 billion in 2014.

But Tuesday, coffee consumers can put away their wallets, or at least keep them healthier. In celebration of National Coffee Day, both national and local retailers are offering deals.

Some known freebies and price deductions in the Lowcountry include:

Dunkin' Donuts

Locations: Bluffton, Hardeeville, Beaufort and Hilton Head Island

Deal: Free medium cup of Dark Roast coffee, hot or iced

Enmark

Locations: Bluffton, Beaufort, Hilton Head

Deal: Free 12-ounce cup of coffee, available on Enmark's app

McDonald's

Locations: Bluffton, Hardeeville, Beaufort, Port Royal and Hilton Head

Deal: Free small cup of coffee

Java Burrito Co.

Location: 1000 William Hilton Parkway in the Village at Wexford on Hilton Head

Deal: Free small cup of coffee

Starbucks

Locations: Bluffton, Beaufort and Hilton Head

Deal: 20 percent off any packaged coffee or merchandise sold in-store for My Starbucks Rewards Members

The Corner Perk

Location: 1297 May River Road in the Promanade in Bluffton

Deal: Free brewer and pour-over coffee. The Old Town coffee shop is also debuting its fall menu.

The Sugaree

Location: 142 Burnt Church Road

Deal: Free 12-ounce, in-house bottomless cup of coffee

Whole Foods

Location: 50 Shelter Cove Lane, Suite R, in the Plaza at Shelter Cove on Hilton Head

Deal: 12-ounce cup of coffee is 25 cents throughout the month of September
