Fahey: Children's clothing boutique coming to downtown Beaufort
There's something inherently cute about two names that start with the same letter.
That might be the same train of thought for Alyssa Johnson, co-owner of Lily and Lou's, a new children's clothing boutique heading to downtown Beaufort.
"We want to be a one-stop shop for whatever you need for kids," said Johnson, who herself has two 3-year-olds -- Jack and Lily Louise, who the business is named after.
Lily and Lou's, at 818 Bay St., will sell children's clothes and accessories. The store has a planned opening date of Oct. 26, just in time for downtown Beaufort's trick-or-treat event.
Up until a few years ago, Johnson wasn't much of a sewer.
"I had never even sewn a button before, but I'm an artsy person," she said. "When I had my kids, I started tinkering with my mom's sewing machine."
That tinkering eventually turned into a hobby, which later became an Etsy shop, where she sells kids' clothes, accessories and monogrammed items.
At Lily and Lou's, Johnson is going into business with her mother, Linda Eastwood. The boutique will sell items Johnson makes as well as children's clothes from other brands. Additionally, Lily and Lou's will offer monogramming and alteration services.
"It's just a fun, happy, kid-friendly place," Johnson said.
