SLED finalizing report on Port Royal fire

Photographed July 20, 2015, the blackened burnt-out shell is all that remains of the Port Royal seafood market. Investigators have ruled out arson as the cause of the July 19 fire that ripped through the building and forced one of the area's most popular restaurants, 11th Street Dockside, to close indefinitely. The fire started in the market and grew between the first and second floors in the market's back corner, Beaufort-Port Royal Fire Department Capt. John Robinson said.

The SC Law Enforcement Division's final report on the July fire at Port Royal's seafood market is expected to be complete soon.

The report, detailing the investigation into the blaze that burned the market, is undergoing a final review and won't be available until at least next week, SLED spokesman Thom Berry said Monday.

Investigators ruled out arson in July.

The town has begun moving the affected operation into a nearby building.
