Called Beaufort County school board meeting to start with public comment at 5 pm
Tonight's specially-called meeting of the Beaufort County School District Board of Education will begin with a public comment session at about 5 p.m.
Following public comments, the board will go into executive session to review its personnel hiring practices, according to executive assistant Robyn Cushingberry.
She said the board has not decided whether there will be another opportunity for public comment after the closed session.
The meeting will take place at the media center of the district's Education Services Center at 2900 Mink Point Blvd., in Beaufort.
The board's discussion will come just a week after superintendent Jeff Moss' wife began work in a newly restructured administrative position.
The circumstances of Darlene Moss's hire for the job of director of innovation has come under fire by some residents and community leaders, including Greater Bluffton Republican Club president Joe Iaco, who created a petition calling for the superintendent's resignation.
That Change.org petition had garnered 328 supporters as of noon Monday.
