Suspect held in Thursday night shooting near Burton Wells
Glenn Ricky Major Jr., 23, of Burton was arrested Friday afternoon near Cardinal Road on Hilton Head Island, the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office said in a release.
He was arrested without incident in connection with three arrest warrants, as well as three bench warrants issued by the City of Beaufort Municipal Court for unrelated incidents. Major Jr. was to be taken to the Beaufort County Detention Center following an interview by investigators.
The male victims of the shooting drove themselves to Beaufort Memorial Hospital around 9 p.m. Thursday and were treated for gunshot wounds, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office release.
The men said they saw four African American men in the sedan as they were leaving Burton Wells Park.
When the victims got out of their vehicle, they told investigators the four men in the sedan fired at them.
From the placement of the shell casings investigators later found at the scene, it appeared the sedan was moving when the shots were fired, the release said.
The motive and identities of the four suspects are under investigation, but potential persons of interest have been identified, the release said.
One of the victims remains in the hospital. The other has been released, the release said.
The Sheriff's Office said the shooting happened in a residential area within a mile of a recreation park that families use.
