New Beaufort fire station still on target for November completion

Construction of a new Beaufort-Port Royal Fire Department station on Ribaut Road is still on target for completion in November and operational capabilities by the start of 2016, according to a news release from the department and the city of Beaufort.

Despite rain delays, work at the new station is expected to finish on time. Recent work included resolving a water line issue at the fire station site and work to improve drainage at the new station and a neighboring bowling alley.

The $3.3 million station is expected to be open by Jan. 1, 2016 and be staffed with firefighters and a new fire truck, the release said. The new facility will replace an outdated one on Mossy Oaks Road.
