Pritchardville Elementary teachers Jody Zatek and Karyn Matejewski were surprised on Tuesday with an Innovative Teacher Grants from the Foundation for Educational Excellence, a fund of the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry and underwritten by the Okatie Rotary Club, whose mission supports Okatie-area schools. Surprised with oversized checks, 34 Beaufort County public school teachers learned Tuesday they had won grants from the Foundation for Educational Excellence.
The 16 grants ranged from $200 to $1,200 and totaled more than $7,300, according to a Beaufort County School District news release.
The grants will help fund projects, such as reading programs to robotics.
