Annual Tiger Bass races and fishing tournament Saturday at Hampton Lake

The Hampton Lake-David Weekley Homes Tiger Bass Charity Event, which features the fifth annual running event -- including a 1-mile fun run/walk, a 5K road race and a 12K cross country race -- and the second annual team fishing tournament will be held Saturday morning at Hampton Lake in Bluffton.

All proceeds benefit Bluffton Self Help -- a local nonprofit organization which serves families throughout the area who encounter unexpected financial emergencies -- and will be matched by David Weekley Homes.

There will be an after-race party with music, raffles and snacks, along with awards and medals for the top finishers by age group.

Where: Hampton Lake's Amenity Village, Bluffton

Fishing tournament: 7 a.m., $75 per two-man team or $40 per single-person kayak. Bring your own boat. To register, contact Chris Collins at ccollins@dwhomes.com or at 678-410-9006 or 843-757-7030 prior to 5 p.m. Friday.

12K, 5K races: 9 a.m., $30 advance, $35 day of event, T-shirt included. Register at tigerbassrun.com or on the day of event from 7-8:15 a.m.

1-mile run/walk: 9:05 a.m., $15 (12 and under free), T-shirts available for purchase. Register at tigerbassrun.com or on the day of event from 7-8:30 a.m.

Notes: The event will be held rain or shine. ... The 1-mile, 5K and 12K races will be held within the Hampton Lake Community, starting and finishing at the Lakeside Amenity Village Circle. The 12K will take place along scenic lake and wooded trails combined with roads. The 5K and 1-mile run/walk will be a flat and wooded road course. Both events are chip timed by Palmetto Running Company. ... The fishing tournament begins at dawn and runs until 3 p.m., followed by a weigh-in and awards ceremony. Tournament teams will consist of two anglers per boat or a single angler in a kayak. Space may be limited based on availability.
