Expect traffic delays at this major Beaufort intersection Wednesday. Here’s why

Local authorities are warning Beaufort residents to brace for traffic backups Wednesday on one of the city’s busiest streets.

Expect delays on Boundary Street near Ribaut Road, where the South Carolina Department of Transportation has construction in progress, Beaufort police said.

SCDOT is paving a road in the area where a drainpipe was damaged earlier this month, SCDOT Spokeswoman Hannah Robinson said.

The right northbound lane of Boundary is blocked in the area between Starbucks and the Beaufort County Government Center.

At 9:30 a.m., northbound traffic was backed up a quarter mile, roughly from Starbucks to nearly Highway 170. Many driver’s were using Marsh Road behind the jail at the county complex to skirt the construction to get from Boundary to Ribaut.
