Juveniles allegedly opened fire in Grays Hill area of Beaufort. Vehicle occupants survived
Shooters allegedly opened fire on a vehicle in a day-after-Christmas shooting a few miles north of Beaufort. But the occupants survived and now three juveniles are in custody with two facing attempted murder charges.
Reports of shots fired were called into the Beaufort County Communications Center at 8 p.m. Thursday on Hampton Drive in the Grays Hill area, which is located just north of the Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort.
Deputies met with the victims and learned that their vehicle was shot multiple times, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, but there were no injuries.
Master Sgt. Danny Allen said those who were charged were males who had planned to meet with the people in the car “to make a purchase of some kind and the shooting happened.”
Through the investigation, it was determined that three juveniles were responsible for the shooting, the Sheriff’s Office said. The juveniles were arrested, and two were charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. The third was charged with accessory before the fact.
“It’s not like we’re looking for others,” Allen said. “The ones involved were charged.”
The juveniles were transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice. The Sheriff’s Office said the investigation is ongoing and asked that anyone with information regarding this incident contact Staff Sergeant Tunis at 843-255-3426 or the non-emergency number 843-524-2777.
