Penn Center will hold a public meeting Monday, June 17 on a major remodeling of its Cedar Cottage, which will house the new Emory Shaw Campbell Preservation School. That school is being relaunched due to recent environmental challenges on St. Helena Island.

The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, which will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Frissell Community House, 16 Penn Center Circle West.

The purpose of the meeting is to provide the community with information regarding the submission of a USDA Rural Development project focusing on remodeling the Cedar Cottage/ the Emory Shaw Campbell Preservation School. The project will consist of repairs, purchase of equipment, and furniture.

The school offered training in preservation issues facing St. Helena Island operated in the 1990s. Penn Center is relaunching it in the wake of the controversial Pine Island housing and golf development proposal sparked protest and concern on the island last year.
