Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced Thursday morning that he was entering the presidential race and one of his first stops will be in Beaufort. DeSantis’ morning social media kickoff was roundly criticized for the technical glitches on Twitter’s platform but he rallied on the more traditional media of Fox News to lay out his campaign plan.

The morning announcement had few details about DeSantis’ destinations other than he will be speaking in Beaufort, Greenville and Lexington County. The Island Packet and Beaufort Gazette reached out to Beaufort city officials and leaders in the local Republican party but no one yet has the details on when or where the candidate will appear locally.
