Clyburn speaking in Beaufort Saturday afternoon. Here’s where and why

South Carolina Rep. Jim Clyburn, D-S.C., will be speaking in Beaufort Saturday afternoon.

The Democratic congressman from the state’s 6th district will be delivering the keynote address for the Mather School Coastal/Lowcountry Alumni and Associates Chapter’s 2018 Sesquicentennial Celebration, according to a release from the congressman’s office.

The event is being held at 12 p.m. at the Holiday Inn in Beaufort, the release said.

The theme of the event will be “Remembering Mather, Honoring the Legacy,” according to the release.

Clyburn is the 3rd ranking Democratic member of the US House of Representatives according to his biography on the House website. He is the Assistant Democratic Leader in the House, and has served as a congressman since 1993.
