Eight guns were reported stolen from a Lady’s Island home on Thursday afternoon, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office report.

Four rifles, two pistols and two revolvers were stolen from the home on a small street off Shorts Landing Road some time throughout the day. The guns were worth over $2,700, according to the estimates in the report.

The guns were kept inside a locked gun safe inside the house, according to the report. When two juveniles got home from school in the afternoon, one reported she saw a gun box on the floor of her dad’s room when she got home and saw that all of his guns were missing.

The other juvenile told deputies both the front and back doors were unlocked when she got home after school, which was odd for their house, according to the report. The father arrived and told deputies he had purposely locked the back door in the morning before school, after finding it had been unlocked.

Deputies did not find any signs that someone broke into the home or the safe, according to the report. They and took DNA samples from the safe and from gun boxes left behind.
