He had been missing since Saturday. Now this Burton man has been found

A 21-year-old Burton man who had been missing since Saturday was found on Thursday, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.

Christopher Jamal Burton was last seen by his family around 10 a.m. Saturday at a Boundary Street store in Beaufort. He told his father he was going fishing at the Broad River Pier, according to a Sheriff’s Office report. His family reported him missing around 2 p.m. on Tuesday when he did not return home.

Burton was reportedly seen by a family friend at a Waffle House off I-95 in Port Wentworth, Ga., just before 10:30 p.m. Saturday, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release. He told the friend he was hungry, but would not accept a ride back to Beaufort that night. Instead, he ran toward a nearby truck stop.

Burton was again spotted in the Burton area around 5:30 p.m. on Monday before his eventual return to his family, the Sheriff’s Office said.
