Man attacked, stabbed 5 times on his way to St. Helena campsite shower, report says
A man reported being stabbed multiple times at a St. Helena Island campsite around 7 a.m. on Saturday, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office report.
When deputies arrived to Tuck in the Wood Campground, the victim had five stab wounds — one to his lower back, two to his chest and two in his abdomen — as well as less serious scrapes on his right temple and bruised, bloody knuckles, according to the report. He was transported to Beaufort Memorial Hospital by Beaufort County EMS after EMS started to treat his wounds at his trailer.
The man was treated and released from the hospital, Capt. Bob Bromage said on Monday. The incident is still under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.
The victim told deputies he was attacked by two men while he was on his way to take a shower at the campsite’s facilities on Tuc in de Woods Lane, according to the report. The attackers didn’t ask him for any money or possessions and they didn’t steal anything from the trailer in which he lived.
He described one of the attackers as “possibly” a white male but couldn’t provide any other description, according to the report.
