The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting incident in Dale on Tuesday night after someone arrived at Beaufort Memorial Hospital with a gunshot wound, Sheriff’s Office Capt. Bob Bromage said Tuesday night.

An adult male arrived at Beaufort Memorial Hospital around 4:30 p.m. with a grazing gunshot wound to his shoulder, Bromage said. No arrests had been made in connection with the shooting by 7 p.m.

The shooting allegedly occurred around 3 p.m. on Lightsey Road, Bromage said. After a verbal argument with someone he knows, the victim started to leave the residential property in his car, when the other man started firing at him. In addition to the victim’s gunshot wound, his car was shot several times.

The victim drove himself to another residence and was given a ride to the hospital that afternoon, Bromage said. Investigators were at the Lightsey Road scene Tuesday night.

The shooting does not pose an immediate threat to the public, according to an advisory sent out by the Sheriff’s Office around 6:30 p.m.
