Sheriff’s Office: Beaufort County teen charged after sending nude photos via Facebook
A Lady’s Island teen faces three felony charges after sending nude photos of a girl to multiple people online, a Sheriff’s Office spokesman said.
Stephan Mctaggart, 17, was arrested Thursday and charged with three counts of exploitation of a minor, each a felony.
Mctaggart was released from Beaufort County Detention Center on Friday afternoon, jail records show. His bond was set at $5,000 for a first degree charge, $3,000 on a second degree charge and $1,000 for a third degree charge, jail records showed.
The most serious charge carries a maximum sentence of 20 years.
Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report in October that Mctaggart sent multiple people nude photos of a minor via Facebook messages and other private online messages, Lt. Col. Bill Neill said Friday. Numerous people saw the photos, including acquaintances of Mctaggart and the girl, Neill said.
Mctaggart was charged after investigators found the photos after a search of his electronic devices, Neill said. Mctaggart didn’t have an attorney listed on court records.
Another Beaufort County teen was charged this month in a similar case.
Abdul Cordoba, 18, was charged with a felony Jan. 11 after police received a report the Bluffton High School student had posted nude photos of a former student on social media, Bluffton police said.
